COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols

The World Travel and Tourism Council and Adventure Travel Trade Association, along with a team of technical experts, created the Adventure Travel COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines using international industry standards, public resources from the CDC, WHO, governments and tour operators. The guidelines provide a common set of actions that can be used by a diverse range of travel businesses across the adventure travel industry. By displaying the WTTC Safe Travels and ATTA COVID-19 Safety Badge, we are stating that we are following these guidelines.

The Galapagos Chamber of Tourism also wishes to assure all guests that we are all taking guest safety seriously to provide a fun and richly rewarding Galapagos experience.

The guest experience

Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed with a hot hand towel with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer ingredient.

Hand luggage, backpacks and bags will be gently sprayed with a disinfecting mist.

If guests have forgotten their face mask, one will be provided for them.

All staterooms and amenities will be disinfected prior to each cruise. Guests will receive personal alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel bottle.

Hand-sanitizing stations will be placed throughout all social areas of the yacht, with additional signage throughout guest and staff areas to remind everyone of important health and hygiene protocols, such as hand washing, wearing face masks, and physical distancing.

During the welcome briefing, the bio-safety measures to be followed during the cruise will be explained. Instructions for protocols will be found on board in the reception area.

Captains will be in contact with other vessels to avoid congestion at visitor sites.

During shore visits, guests will be required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing whenever possible.

Guests may require assistance for embarking and disembarking pangas. They will be reminded to use hand sanitizer before and after any crew contact.

Cleaning and disinfecting protocols

Shoe disinfection trays have been placed at the entrance of the yacht.

Cleaning products approved by the Galapagos National Park, which are effective against viruses, bacteria and other airborne and blood borne pathogens are being used aboard the yacht. We have increased the frequency of deep-cleaning of all common areas, public spaces and guest staterooms in addition to crew quarters, with an emphasis on high-contact surfaces such as stair railings, door knobs, coffee stations, water dispensers, coffee tables, dining and bar surfaces, social area restrooms, hot tub and sun deck areas. Crew members follow strict cleaning and sanitation charts in every stateroom and social area. We have intensified and increased the cleaning of air conditioning recirculation filters every week, to guarantee the proper operation of the system, prior to each cruise.

Even though all snorkel gear undergoes deep cleaning and disinfection after each use. we highly recommend all guests bring their own mask and snorkel.

Wetsuits will be delivered to the yacht fully cleaned and disinfected. Guests will be responsible for hanging up their own wetsuit between uses.

Sea kayaks will also undergo deep cleaning and disinfection after each use.

Mandatory procedures followed by the crew

All crew members residing in the Galapagos Islands will be tested before boarding. Crew ­arriving from the continent will undergo all controls and procedures established by the Galapagos ­airports. They will follow complete disinfection procedures before boarding the yacht. All crew members will be closely monitored daily for any symptoms, including ­temperature checks while aboard. Crew will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment based on ­roles and will maintain a social distance of at least 3 feet between themselves and with guests.

The crew has received detailed training on the established sanitation protocols, in addition to learning how to identify flu or virus-like symptoms, and follow procedures as stated in the ­International Safety Management manual. Wearing of facemasks and hand hygiene are the main techniques of prevention and control of infection, and will be done with water and soap, following the appropriate techniques described by of the World Health Organization.

No crew member is allowed to disembark on any populated island, unless ordered by the captain.

While ashore between cruises, crew members have been recommended to self-isolate and their health will be closely monitored by our Human Resources Department.

 

We continue to reinforce our methods of identifying and managing food safety related risks, as well as the cleanliness and disinfection of our dining areas, bars and kitchens. To reduce ­capacity in the dining room during meals, the sundeck will be open for meals weather permitting and room service will be offered during dinner if requested. All meals will be plated, including breakfast. There will be no buffet meals.

We have emphasized the cleaning and disinfection of kitchens and bars, with strict food safety standards. We follow a disinfection process of all the tableware, glassware and cutlery, as well as the utensils used during the service. Service personnel will adhere to strict security procedures while serving all food and drinks. The kitchen will be disinfected daily and only authorized crew members will be allowed to enter the kitchen during their working hours.
